The Foreign Ministry also stressed that the decision on Ukraine”s participation in EU operations “Atalanta” is the result of a long preparatory work carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with other involved ministries and departments of Ukraine.
participation in this operation will be of great political significance in the context of bringing Ukraine to the implementation of the European security and defense policy, and will be an important practical contribution to our country in strengthening the security of navigation and prevention and combating piracy and protecting the rights, freedoms and interests of Ukrainian citizens noted in the foreign service.
As reported, President Viktor Yushchenko has put in place the NSDC decision to send special forces soldiers to participate in EU operations to counter piracy.
