Constitutional Court declared unconstitutional the decision of the Supreme Rada of the abolition of elections in the Ternopil Oblast Council. The decision announced today at a press conference chairman Andrew UKU Strizhak, transmits the correspondent of RBC-Ukraine.

As the judge-rapporteur of the case Pavel Tkachuk, the Verkhovna Rada has a right only to appoint a special local elections, and not to cancel their own decision on the appointment of the elections, except in cases of emergency and martial law. Inthese cases, Parliament can abolish the designated special election, and the old local authorities will continue to fulfill its mandate.
Tkachuk said that in a situation of lack of military and emergency postponement and /or cancellation of the early local elections - a violation of electoral rights of citizens.
