Verkhovna Rada has banned the piece implementation of tobacco products except cigars, from 1 January 2011.

At the same time, according to law, the package must be shown the figure and icon, see a possible consequences of smoking.

Rada banned include tobacco products and items related to their use in humanitarian assistance, as well as to distribute tobacco products to the public free of charge.

Parliament has established a ban on smoking tobacco in public places, including health facilities, schools, sports facilities, in institutions, enterprises and organizations of culture, in the train, bus interiors, taxis, including mini buses, trolley buses, trams and in the elevators of residential buildings.

Smoking is prohibited in the playgrounds.

During the discussion the deputies of the relevant bill chairman of the parliament Volodymyr Lytvyn pledged that as early as Friday, June 12, the Rada will be checked for whether smoking in the building of Parliament.

Act comes into force on the date of issuance, except it relates to the implementation of the ban cigarette piece, which comes into force in January 2011.

As reported in September 2005, the Rada has strengthened the fight against smoking, banning smoking in workplaces and public places, except in special places.
